Xenia Rural Water District provides safe, treated
water to rural residents and communities in Central
Iowa. The District is currently comprised of all, or
portions of, Adair, Boone, Dallas, Greene, Guthrie,
Hamilton, Madison, Polk and Story Counties. Preliminary
engineering is completed for all, or portions of,
Calhoun, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Webster and Wright
Counties. At the end of 2001, there was approximately
6000 users on the rural water system and approximately
2200 miles of pipeline.
Xenia Rural Water District is organized under Chapter
357A of the Iowa Code. This Chapter is a non-profit
governmental body, which is governed by a board of
directors that is elected by the participating members
of the district. These districts are established by the
county boards of supervisors.
Xenia Rural water District receives funding from USDA
Rural Development, as well as from Community Development
Block Grants (CDBG).
